About Catch the Ball โ Physics Arcade Game
Catch the Ball is a browser-based physics arcade game where players control a moving catcher basket at the bottom of the screen, intercepting falling objects while avoiding hazards. Standard balls and bonus stars fall from the top at increasing speeds; spiky bomb hazards fall alongside them and penalise the player on contact. The objective is to maximise the score through consecutive catches that build a combo multiplier, reaching up to 5x on unbroken catching streaks.
The game features two modes: Classic Mode runs for 60 seconds with a fixed time limit and no lives system, rewarding players who maintain high combo streaks throughout the countdown; Endless Mode replaces the timer with a three-life survival system where each bomb contact costs one heart. Both modes support four distinct visual theme skins โ Cyber Neon, Retro Arcade, Ocean Depths (Underwater), and Orchard Harvest โ which change the visual appearance of the catcher, falling objects, and background without affecting gameplay physics.
Four power-ups appear as special bubbles during gameplay: the Magnet bubble draws nearby standard items toward the catcher for eight seconds; the Slow-Mo bubble activates a time-dilation effect that halves falling speeds for eight seconds; the Wider bubble expands the catcher basket width for eight seconds; and the Shield bubble absorbs one bomb hit completely. Power-ups stack and their individual cooldown timers are displayed on the right-side status panel.
How to Play Catch the Ball
Movement Controls: Move the catcher basket using the left and right keyboard arrow keys. The basket responds with smooth inertia friction โ holding an arrow key accelerates movement, releasing it decelerates gradually. On touchscreen devices, press and drag directly on the game canvas to track the basket with your finger.
Building Combo Multipliers: Catching consecutive standard balls and bonus stars without missing any item or hitting a bomb increments the combo counter. At 5 consecutive catches, the multiplier reaches its maximum of 5x. Missing an item or catching a bomb resets the combo to zero immediately.
Scoring System: Standard balls award 10 base points multiplied by the current combo. Bonus stars award 30 base points multiplied by combo. Bomb contact deducts 50 points in Classic Mode and removes one life in Endless Mode.

โ Frequently Asked Questions โ Catch the Ball
QHow does the Magnet power-up work?
How does the Magnet power-up work?
When the Magnet power-up is active, standard catchable items within a proximity radius of the catcher are attracted toward it automatically for 8 seconds. The magnet does not attract bombs or bonus stars.
QDoes speed increase during a game session?
Does speed increase during a game session?
In Classic Mode, object falling speed remains constant throughout the 60-second session. In Endless Mode, speed scales upward every 30 seconds of survival, gradually increasing the difficulty.
