OFFICIAL GAME RULES

🏆 TRADITIONAL RULES DETAILED

  • COLOR ASSIGNMENT
First player to legally pocket a coin is assigned that color. The opponent is automatically assigned the opposite color.
  • QUEEN COVERING
The Queen (red coin) can be pocketed at any stage. However, the player who pockets it must sink one of their own color coins in the next shot to "cover" the Queen. Failing to cover returns the Queen to the center.
  • STRIKER FOULS
Pocketing the striker is a foul. As a penalty, one of your pocketed coins is returned to the center, and the turn passes.

đŸŋ POPPER RULES DETAILED

  • SCORING POINTS
Pocketing any coin adds points: 10 points for White/Black coins, 50 points for the Queen. No cover shot is required for the Queen.
  • RETAINING TURNS
As long as you pocket a coin legally, you retain your turn. If you make a shot and do not pocket any coin, the turn passes.
  • FOUL PENALTY
Pocketing the striker reduces your score by 10 points (floor of 0) and the turn immediately passes to the opponent.

COMPARISON: CARROM vs BILLIARDS/POOL

🤝 KEY SIMILARITIES

  • CORNER POCKETS
Both games are played on flat boards with corner pockets, with the objective of pocketing target items.
  • COLLISION MATH
The fundamental geometry of elastic collisions, ghost-ball contact points, cut angles, and deflection paths is identical.
  • CUSHION REBOUNDS
Both games utilize rubber/wood cushions for rebound bank shots and angle positioning.

🔄 MAIN DIFFERENCES

Equipment:Carrom uses flat circular wooden discs struck by fingers. Pool uses spherical balls struck by wood cue sticks.
Shooting Position:Carrom strikers must be shot from your bottom baseline. Pool cue balls can be hit from anywhere on the table.
Friction & Surface:Carrom discs slide over wood using smooth boric powder. Pool balls roll over velvet/wool felt surfaces.
Board Shape:Carrom is a 1:1 square board. Pool/Billiards is a 2:1 rectangular table.

Guidance

Tips & Best Practices

💡
Strike with lower power for delicate cut shots to keep the striker from bouncing around uncontrollably.
💡
Use the baseline corners to get better angles for rebounding shots off the side cushions.
💡
In Traditional mode, remember that pocketing the opponent's coin will score points for them and end your turn.
💡
Place the striker near the center of the baseline for a direct shot at the pocket, or near the sides for angle shots.
Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Q What is the difference between Popper and Traditional Carrom?

In Popper (Points) mode, players can pocket any coin (white or black) to score points, with the Queen worth the most points. In Traditional mode, players are assigned either White or Black coins, and must only pocket their own color. They must also cover the Queen to claim it.

Q How does the Queen cover rule work?

If a player pockets the Queen, they must pocket one of their own coins on the very next shot to 'cover' the Queen. If successful, they keep the Queen. If they fail, the Queen is returned to the center circle.

Q Can I save my game and resume it later?

Yes! The game features a 'Save Game' option that saves your current positions, scores, and turn state. When you reopen the page, a 'Resume Game' option will be available to continue where you left off.

Q How do I use the aiming Coach AI?

Toggle 'Coach On' in the settings bar. This will draw a guide line showing the path of the striker, its point of contact with target coins, and the resulting target coin direction toward the corner pockets.
